Een van de meest actieve onderzoekers binnen de ISTDP therapie is Dr. Allan Abbass, Professor in de Psychiatrie en Psychologie en verbonden aan de Dalhousie University in Canada. Met meer dan 250 wetenschappelijke publicaties op zijn naam, en 300 live presentaties op uitnodiging over de hele wereld. ISTDP laat indrukwekkende resultaten zien bij een breed spectrum aan psychische klachten zoals bepaalde medisch onverklaarde klachten, tics, en conversiestoornissen.
